Spray advertises this race as Oregon's oldest half marathon. The race director said the first race was run from Spray to Service Creek. The next year they reversed it and it has been ongoing since.
I made it a long weekend, camping at Spray Riverfront Park and taking in some of the rodeo festivities with Jasmine and Jared.
Jasmine joined me in running the 5k on Saturday morning, while Jared was our driver to the start. The 9:00 start time gave ample time to get to the start line and the morning was ideal for running.
The 5k was small, 19 runners. We chatted with the other 5kers as we waited for the start. The course was mildly undulating and at about 2000' altitude. With my recent sparse training due to a sinus infection this was not going to be a full out effort, but rather "push, but keep it comfortable."
